There are five main steps in the application process which include:
Create your Profile: Add details about yourself that will help potential roommates learn more about you.
Complete Pre-screening: This will evaluate your credit, income, leasing history and background report to ensure you will qualify to apply. This one-time process is free and will ensure you meet community standards. If you qualify you will become a Verified Bungalow Member.
Chat with Potential roommates: Once you are a Verified Bungalow Member you can start a Meet & Greet chat with current residents of a home, introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have. If the current residents feel like you’d be a good fit, you’ll be able to apply.
Submit an Application: This step only takes minutes to complete via a safe and secure online platform. Here you’ll be able to select specific details such as your lease length. There will be a fee required as well as additional documents and verification at this stage.
Sign your Lease: Once your application is approved a member of our team will send out your lease for signature.
We are committed to welcoming inclusive residents from all backgrounds who are excited to live with one another and build a household and a community together. You’ll need to meet the following requirements to lease with Bungalow:
Income: Gross monthly income of at least three times the monthly rent
Credit Score: A favorable credit history reflecting consistent payments and satisfactory debt to income levels
Leasing History: No recent history of evictions
Background Report: Meets the standards of our community per Fair Housing Guidelines in accordance with local regulations.
The application process can be completed entirely online. To create your Bungalow account and apply within minutes, simply give us your:
Name and address
A government-issued form of identification
Self-reported credit score
Self-reported monthly income and
Attest to your background and history
To apply for a lease:
Verification of your income (i.e. pay stub)
Application fee (varies by market)
Cosigners must have a U.S. based address and a credit score of 680 or higher as well as income that is three times the monthly rent.

Finding the perfect place to live doesn’t have to be a daunting task, which is why we created Meet & Greet™! We encourage both residents and potential roommates to respond promptly and keep the conversation going. When the Meet & Greet™ starts, we suggest asking the current residents about their living preferences, cleaning inclinations, household chore expectations, or preferred schedules. It will help you kick off the conversation and learn if living together will be a good fit.

Once you become a Verified Bungalow Member, you’ll be able to start a Meet & Greet chat with current residents of a home you are interested in. From there, you can coordinate a time to meet, set up time to video chat or ask them to take you on a video tour of the home. If, for whatever reason, it's not a mutual fit, Bungalow will welcome you to chat with other roommates until you find your perfect home.
Have a whole group of friends? We have Homes available as well that may be a good fit. Or, you can use our referral program to refer your friends to Bungalow. Have your friends apply to be a part of the Bungalow community and tell our teams that they’re interested in joining your home. Once your friend moves in, depending on the state you are in, you may get up to a $500 referral fee.
Bungalow expects that you will treat your new home, roommates and the community with care and respect, but this is your collective home and you should set the house rules as a household, subject to any local community rules.
While residents share the entire home, each resident has their own private bedroom within the home.
When a resident notifies us that they’ll be moving out of their home, we send an email to all of their roommates with the next steps for their home. We will also start introducing you to Verified Bungalow Members through our Meet & Greet chat to help you choose your next roommate.

For that reason, we designed our Meet & Greet process from the ground up to ensure our residents are able to review, chat, and get to know their potential roommates before selecting them to move in.

Personally, we love pets, however some of our partners and residents prefer to keep the homes pet free. You can check the property listings page if pets are allowed in a specific home.
Bungalow individually evaluates requests for service and support animals. Please notify our Leasing Team in writing with your reasonable accommodation request. They will provide you with the appropriate next steps to make sure your request is processed.
Residents can choose lease terms between 4 and 24 months. Residents can also move freely to other homes in different cities without breaking their lease.
Yes! You can sign a lease up to 90 days in advance of your lease start date.
We offer virtual tours along with personalized insights on the home and neighborhood for all of our properties. We also offer in-person tours at select properties.
Yes! We’ll send out an email to everyone prior to move in.
Smoking and illegal drugs of any kind are not allowed in the home or near the premises.
The price of the home or your portion of the rent will be listed on the property listings page at our 12-month lease rate. We offer lease lengths as little as 4 months and as long as 24 months. Pricing can be subject to change based on the lease term.
Bungalow does not charge a broker fee.
When you sign your new lease, depending on the market, we collect a security deposit equal to one month's rent or an approved security deposit alternative. We also collect the first month’s rent and service fees.
Security deposits will be returned in accordance with applicable law.
Payment is due on the first of every month.
Bungalow works with maintenance partners and homeowners to quickly address important items within the home that are broken or otherwise not functioning as they should. We strive to address maintenance requests in a timely manner that appropriately reflects the urgency of the problem. For more info, refer to the following guide.
Sometimes things just unexpectedly break or go wrong, and when that happens Bungalow has got you covered. If you happen to break something, you’ll be responsible for paying for it — but we’re still here to help you get it fixed with top-quality maintenance at the best price.
For day-to-day tasks like taking out the trash, hanging mirrors or watering your houseplants, that’s your time to shine. Examples of other maintenance requests that fall under resident responsibility include:
Installation or assembly of personal furnishings
Plumbing issues like clogged drains that arise due to resident use
Disposal of trash or large items beyond weekly trash service
Testing and troubleshooting blown fuses
Bathroom fixtures like shower curtains and disposable bathroom items
In order to keep the shared homes in great condition, we provide monthly cleaning, which is split evenly between roommates and guaranteed by Bungalow not to exceed $50/mo or cleanings will then not occur.
This can vary by the condition you leave your personal bedroom and the rest of the home. You always want to leave your space better than you found it! Fill in those small picture holes, spot paint, remove all personal belongings & deep clean all relevant areas.
Parking is available for many of our homes. This is based on an individual property basis so please check the listing. An additional parking fee also varies by property depending on space limitations.
